[1] Dr. Sandra Correia (Portugal)

Dr. Sandra Correia is a Plant Biologist specializing in Plant Biotechnology, with over fifteen years of research experience on the molecular and physiological aspects of plant propagation and crop protection. She graduated in Biology in 2004 from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and completed her PhD in Plant Physiology in 2011. Her postdoctoral research was conducted at the Centre for Functional Ecology – Science for People & the Planet at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Coimbra, where she is an invited assistant professor and mentors PhD students in Biosciences. She was the former director (2022-2025) of the Department of Protection of Specific Crops at the InnovPlantProtect CoLab (Elvas, Portugal). She serves as Associate and/or Guest Editor for several scientific journals and is Chair of the ISHS Working Group Horticultural Biotechnology and Breeding.

[2] Dr. Sandhya Gupta (India)

Dr. Sandhya Gupta is a Principal Scientist at ICAR–National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources with over 30 years of experience in plant genetic resources conservation. She earned her master’s degree from Agra University, M.Phil. from University of Delhi and Ph.D. from IIT Delhi. She is the curator of temperate and minor tropical fruit germplasm at ICAR-NBPGR and introduced over 200 exotic fruit accessions and conserved over 400 in the in vitro genebank. She served as Officer in-Charge of Tissue Culture and Cryopreservation Unit at ICAR-NBPGR. She also mentors postgraduate students. She received Biotechnology Overseas Associateship and worked at USDA, USA. She is a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London and other professional societies. She joined ISHS in 2009 and has been awarded the ISHS Medal twice (2018, 2024). She is Vice-Chair of the ISHS Division Plant Genetic Resources, Breeding and Biotechnology (2022-26, 2014-18).
