[1] Dr. Maria Jose Rubio Cabetas (Spain)

Dr. Maria Jose Rubio Cabetas is researcher of the Plant breeding group in fruit trees in the HortoFruticulture department of the Agrifood Research Center of Aragon (CITA). Since 2022 I am leading the ALMOND and Rootstock Breeding Program. My work has been devoted to Prunus breeding since 1989. In the last five years I was involved in scion-rootstock interactions with commercial almond cultivars and rootstock to give answers to modern planting system and training. From 2015 I am also dealing with the PBRs of the almond rootstock and cultivars released by CITA and dealing with all the internal management of Intellectual property in CITA. At the moment I am the chair of the Fruit group of ANOVE (Association Nacional Obtentores Vegetales) as well as the Chair of the ISHS Working Group Almond and Pistachio.

[2] Dr. Carlos Trapero (Spain)

Dr. Carlos Trapero is Associate Professor at the University of Córdoba, where he leads research on pistachio and olive breeding. He coordinates the pistachio breeding programme at the University of Córdoba and leads public and public-private collaborative projects on pistachio and nut varietal evaluation, rootstocks and adaptation to low winter chill conditions across Spain and Europe. With international research experience at CSIRO, USDA and University of Göttingen, over 30 JCR papers and several ISHS Acta Horticulturae contributions on pistachio, he is an active member of International Society for Horticultural Science divisions related to nuts, fruits and plant genetic resources. As Vice-Chair he would foster international cooperation in nut breeding and strengthen collaboration with both research institutions and private companies.
