Jens Wünsche ISHS Young Minds Travel Fellowship Fund

The objective of the Jens Wünsche ISHS Young Minds Travel Fellowship Fund, established in 2025, is to solicit donations to help fund travel of needy students or needy early career horticulturists to attend ISHS Congresses and Symposia.
This Fellowship Fund is managed by the ISHS Secretariat (in cooperation with a Young Minds Fellowship Sub-Committee of the ISHS Board along with one Young Minds Committee Member).
The Fund is not part of the operating funds of the ISHS and is managed as a separate account.
The Jens Wünsche ISHS Young Minds Travel Fellowship Fund is named in honor of the late Professor Jens Wünsche of the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany.

Jens was a long-time ISHS member and a member of the ISHS Board from 2014 to 2018. He was instrumental in promoting the status of Young Minds within ISHS. He organized and obtained funding for travel and accommodations for 20 young minds students from 17 countries to attend the First ISHS Sumer School on Pre- and Postharvest Physiology of Temperate Fruit Crops at the University of Hohenheim (see Chronica Horticulturae Vol 58 #4). Jens was a tireless advocate for Young Minds within ISHS and it is fitting that he is remembered by naming this fellowship in his honor.
In recognition of the fact that engagement of Young Minds is critical to the future of ISHS, the ISHS Board is committed to promoting their participation in ISHS events. Establishment of this fund is one way to support this effort. Contributions from any individual or organization are welcome. All members of the International Society for Horticultural Science are encouraged to consider making donations to this Travel Fellowship Fund to further the ISHS Young Minds initiative.
