The World Food Prize Foundation invites all ISHS members to consider nominating a deserving candidate for the 2026 Borlaug Field Award. Please share this call for nominations with your networks. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2026, and the nomination criteria and form are available in nine languages at www.worldfoodprize.org/BorlaugFieldAward.

The Dr. Norman E. Borlaug Award for Field Research and Application, called the Borlaug Field Award, recognizes exceptional, science-based achievement in international agriculture and food production by a researcher or extensionist under the age of 40. Recipients of this USD $10,000 award emulate the same intellectual courage, stamina and determination in the fight to eliminate global hunger and poverty demonstrated by Dr. Borlaug as a young scientist working in Mexico in the 1940s and ’50s, doing the work that would be recognized with the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize.

Participation of the ISHS network in the nomination process has been and continues to be an especially meaningful way to uplift the work that is being done around the world to end hunger.

As a reminder, nominations for the 2027 World Food Prize remain open through May 1, 2026. Recognized globally as the premier award for great achievement in food and agriculture, the $500,000 Prize has honored 56 Laureates from 22 countries in a wide variety of fields related to food security. Find the award criteria and submit a nomination at www.worldfoodprize.org/nominate.
