Design and Automation in Integrated Indoor Production Systems
The Working Group Design and Automation in Integrated Indoor Production Systems focuses on advancing intelligent and sustainable controlled environment agriculture for indoor production systems. Its core research encompasses the development of smart plant factories, particularly intelligent LED-based systems, with emphasis on light recipe optimization, efficient utilization of light and thermal resources, and rapid crop propagation technologies for vertical farming. Research in environmental engineering involves the simulation of greenhouse and indoor systems, development of energy-saving control strategies like thermal energy storage, and precision control of interior climates (temperature, humidity, CO₂, airflow). The Working Group also pursues automation in production systems through internet of things-enabled intelligent control, advanced nutrient solution management and recycling, crop quality regulation, and system design optimization leveraging computational fluid dynamic simulation.
The Working Group’s scope encompasses organizing premier international academic exchanges, such as co-hosting “GreenSys” symposia on advanced technologies and management of greenhouses, to foster global scientific dialogue. It actively promotes collaborative research and knowledge sharing in key areas like plant factory innovations, greenhouse energy efficiency, and automated equipment. Furthermore, the Working Group facilitates the practical application and industrial advancement of these technologies by demonstrating and promoting integrated plant factory systems and high-efficiency greenhouse equipment across various regions, thereby bridging the gap between research and implementation.
