Abstract
Seven products were applied before harvest in 2013 and 2014 at the Research and Breeding Institute of Pomology in Holovousy (Czech Republic) for evaluation of their potential to reduce cherry (Prunus avium) fruit cracking caused by rain.
The products, Actisil, Boronia, Borosan, Gibb 3, Platina, Agrovital and Frutrel, were tested on the sweet cherry cultivars, ‘Amid’, ‘Burlat’, ‘Justyna’, ‘Kasandra’, ‘Kordia’, ‘Regina’, ‘Sweet Early’, ‘Tamara’ and ‘Těchlovan’, and on the new hybrid HL 13 577 by single application or a combination.
The product, Gibb 3, helped the most to decrease rain cracking by 9-11% on the cultivars ‘Justyna’, ‘Tamara’ and ‘Regina’, in comparison to the control.
Differences between the tested products were not recorded on cultivars with lower flesh firmness (‘Sweet Early’, ‘Burlat’).
