Abstract
The search for new drying systems taking advantage of alternative energy such as solar and wind energy involves constructing and testing new devices in order to understand, to control and to obtain the maximum benefits.
This work is based on increasing the local demand of dryers for vegetables on either mild or tropical conditions where sometimes the meteorological conditions defy the drying goals.
As a result, a prototype was build, a lettuce sample was tested and 16 thin-layer drying models were fitted.
