Abstract
An explanation for the decreasing demand for fresh apples might be that consumer needs are no longer satisfied by the choice of apples offered on the market.

The results of a market segmentation study – based on an analysis of consumer attitudes – indicate that ‘Golden Delicious’ – opposed to ‘Cox’s Orange’, ‘Granny Smith’ and ‘Boskoop’ – cannot quite satisfy consumer needs.
