Abstract
For transplanting seedlings and containerplants different commercial semi – automatic transplanting machines are available.
In several places in the world research and development work is done in trying to find fully automatic transplanting systems for these objects.

Since several years this has also been a subject for research at IMAG the Institute of Agricultural Engineering in Wageningen.

In the department of Engineering attention is paid to the development of automatic transplanting systems:

  1. for use on the potting machine

  2. for use on the ground in a green house

  3. for use in the field
