Abstract
The development of the Bulgarian carnation type contributes to the world’s commercial breeding work in improving the decorative and commercial characters of the species Dianthus caryophyllus. A high degree of resistance to Fusarium wilt and tolerance to virus diseases has been attained.
The species assortment has been enriched by new races: supercarnations, branching carnations and caryactuses – dwarf pot carnations.

The achievements ensure possibilities for wide distribution of Bulgarian carnation cultivars in world floriculture.
