Abstract
A light-dependent temperature control system capable of automatic adjustment of glasshouse temperatures with changing levels of solar radiation is briefly described.
Results of experiments involving the use of various "modulating" and "steady" temperature regimes in the production of early tomato crops show variable responses to light-dependent temperature control depending on the nature of the programme used.
It is also clear that responses will be markedly affected by the variable light climate from year to year.
The significance of the crop production patterns resulting from the various regimes and the future possibilities for such an automatic temperature control system are discussed.
