Abstract
Seedling plants derived from hybridization between Leucospermum cultivar Spider (L. tottum/L. formosum) and Leucospermum cultivar Luteum (L. reflexum var. luteum) were rooted in a replicate block design. `Spider’ is easily and quickly rooted under standard rooting conditions, while `Luteum’ is difficult to root. The rootability of the progeny plants ranged from as poor as `Luteum’ to better than `Spider’. The differences in rootability were significantly different between plants, indicating segregation for rootability. Poor rootability in some progeny plants was due to high incidence of Botrytis rot, as observed in `Luteum’.
