FIRST ATTEMPT ON IDENTIFICATION OF PHYTOPLASMA ASSOCIATED WITH FULL BLOSSOM OF RED AND WHITE CURRANT IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Abstract
Phytoplasmas detected in red and white currant with full blossom symptoms in the Czech Republic were classified as aster yellows phytoplasma (16Sr I-B) and apple proliferation phytoplasma (16Sr X) on the basis of restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of PCR-amplified 16S rDNA segments.
A phytoplasma was successfully transmitted to dodder plants and the infection was confirmed by phytoplasma specific PCR and RFLP analysis.
