Abstract
To develop land management strategies favourable to bumble bees, it is necessary to know more about the relationship between landscape structure and the composition of bumble bee communities.
This study tested the relationship between data sets of landscape elements and bumble bee communities from nine agricultural areas in Estonia in 1996-1998. Results showed that there was a highly significant co-structure of the data sets of landscape elements and bumble bee communities.
The most important landscape features correlating with the distribution of the bumble bee species were the ecotone length between cultivated land and forests, and the size of the area covered with mixed forests and wetlands.
