Abstract
The most promising tomato samples showing the resistance against the late blight pathogen under conditions of severe natural infection in the Moscow Region were evaluated using a detached leaf and stem assay.
Phytophthora infestans strains representing different genotypes isolated from tomato leaves and stems were used to perform this assay.
Among the tomato samples evaluated were breeding lines, inbred varieties, and hybrids possessing different resistant genes as well as material bred using different wild species as donors of resistance.
The results obtained were correlated with data of long-term research on tomato resistance to late blight.
