THE EFFECTS OF 60CO γ-IRRADIATION ON DEVELOPMENT OF CROCUS SATIVUS L.

Abstract
Effects of 0~25 Gy 60Co γ-rays irradiation on the development of Crocus sativus L. corms (12~14 g weight) were investigated in this paper.
The results showed that irradiation at the dose of 5~10 Gy can stimulate the flowering of saffron and can improve the harvest offspring ratio.
It is concluded that 5~10 Gy irradiation is a suitable mutation dose for 12-14 g weight corms of saffron.
