Abstract
The objective of this work was distinguish the difference of 5 gladiolus cultivars (Gladiolus grandiflora White, Light Pink, Salmon Red, Red, Light Blue White) of different colors based on spectral reflectance of their petals.
A spectrometer connected to a portable computer and configured for reflectance data acquisition in the 375 to 750 nm range was used to determine flower color.
Based on the results, it was verified that outstanding and different changes in spectral reflectances was possible based on petal color.
Thus, mainly in the region of visible spectrum, the reflectance can be used as a criterion for development of automatic systems for classification of gladiolus in a reliable and precise way.
