Grape Genetics, Physiology and Management
The Working Group Grape Genetics, Physiology and Management is a diverse international community of researchers and professionals committed to highlighting and promoting advancements and knowledge in grapevine science and cultivation. This group investigates a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from molecular mechanisms to whole-plant functions, with the goal of optimizing both wine and table grape production. In the face of climate change and the increasing need for sustainable practices, understanding grapevine’s physiological responses to environmental factors and its interactions with beneficial or pathological organisms has become crucial. Key areas of focus include, but are not limited to, genetics and breeding, vegetative/reproductive development and biotic/abiotic stress, sustainable viticultural practices, applied precision and digital technologies, and postharvest physiology and management. The Working Group organizes an international symposium, typically held every four years, as part of both the International Horticultural Congress and the European Horticultural Congress. This symposium provides an ideal platform for international collaboration, fostering the exchange of research results and new ideas across different growing regions worldwide, ultimately contributing to the advancement of viticultural science and sustainable practices in the face of global challenges. Additionally, the Working Group maintains strong interactions with other ISHS Working Groups.
We encourage all those involved in grapevine research to join and become actively involved in this Working Group.
