Southeastern and Eastern Europe Vegetables and Potatoes

Our Working Group is small but mighty, and we are proud to significantly impact vegetable and potato production.

We operate under the Division Vegetables, Roots and Tubers and provide a platform for international scientific exchange and collaboration. Our regional name does not limit our activities, as we welcome scholars, representatives from government, industry, and NGOs from all around the world to participate in our events. Every three years, we organize a scientific symposium to address the challenges of our time, such as climate change and limited resources. We also focus on addressing consumer needs and expectations.

Our Working Group is committed to supporting the development of novel technologies and sharing best practices in all aspects of vegetable and potato production, from seeding and harvesting to marketing and distribution. We recognize the critical role that vegetables and potatoes play in human health, nutrition, and food security. In collaboration with FAO, we have produced a practical manual for “Good agricultural practices for greenhouse vegetable production” to promote sustainable and responsible practices among growers.

Collaboration with other stakeholders is essential to achieving our goals, and we welcome partnerships with organizations that share our vision for sustainable vegetable and potato production.
