Abstract
The performance of an idealized spherical sampler in a low air velocity environment, that is close to conditions in agricultural buildings, was studied mathematically.
To describe the air flow around the sampler the potential flow of incompressible fluid model was used.
The particle motion equations were integrated into the given velocity field.
The aspiration efficiency was investigated as a function of a particle diameter at various values of wind velocity.
It is shown that the gravity influence becomes considerable at low wind velocity and the aspiration efficiency decreases due to the particle deposition on the sphere surface.
The approximate formula for the aspiration efficiency of the spherical sampler oriented horizontally is proposed.
