Abstract
Data is presented on the production of cucumbers in England and Wales including information on its importance as a glasshouse crop, the output and value.
Types of production are described and the differences between the two main growing areas, the Lee Valley and Humberside.

Home supplies of around 50.000 tonnes per annum are supplemented by imports of approximately 30.000 tonnes.
These total supplies amount to a small consumption per head relative to some other European countries.

The monthly import figures are given.
During the home production season imports have tended to fall and imports mainly from Holland have in recent years varied between 8 and 19% of total supplies.

Market prices are also given.
