Abstract
Poor sweet cherry fruit set can occur on different cultivars in years with unfavorable climatic conditions, and on cultivars prone to severe fruitlet drop.
The two-year experiment was conducted to improve fruit set in three sweet cherry cultivars ‘Sunburst’, ‘Lapins’ and ‘Sweetheart’. The mixture of GA3 10 mg L-1 + NAA 10 mg L-1 applied at weekly intervals starting at the end of bloom time, enhanced the final fruit set.
In all the three considered cultivars the final number of fruit per 100 flowers was at least doubled as compared to the level reached in unsprayed control.
Three sprays of GA3 and NAA did not reduce the return bloom of experimental trees.
