Abstract
In Mexico, the crop of Mejhoul date palm found the best climatic conditions for its development in the San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora and Mexicali, Baja California valleys.
By 2020, both areas achieved 14,898 t of Mejhoul dates.
The Mejhoul cultivar represents 94% of the national date production, making Mexico the second-largest producer in the American continent, and the fourth largest producer in the world.
In South America, its cultivation is very little developed.
However, it has good development prospects in the medium term.
