Abstract
In the context of climate change, this paper presents an analysis of the phenophases evolution of four vine cultivars, Argessis, Gelu, Italia, and Victoria, over the period 2019-2022. The observations were conducted at the National Institute of Research & Development for Biotechnologies in Horticulture Stefanesti-Argeș, Romania.
The study relies on climatic and phenological data, recorded in accordance with BBCH scale, to describe the growth stages of grapevine cultivars.
Climate change has a significant impact on viticulture in many wine regions around the world, and the study highlights the key role that temperature plays on phenology, particularly during spring season.
Significant differences were found between cultivars and within the cultivar, from one year to another.
Given the significant trends observed, phenological changes may occur over the long-term, emphasizing the need to assess varietal characteristics and temperature responses to changes.
