Abstract
Job analyses are utilized in many professions to help define the knowledge, skills, and abilities for entry into a profession.
Many professions utilize job analyses to help develop exam content for professional credentialing exams.
In the United States, healthcare professions utilize job analyses and credentialing exams to help increase patient safety and ensure practitioners are prepared to practice the profession.
The American Horticultural Therapy Association is in the process of developing a credentialing examination and this article will review the need for professional certification and the importance of a job analysis and credentialing exams.
Authors will present and discuss the most recent job analysis conducted by the American Horticultural Therapy Association in 2022 and how this information will be used to develop a future certification exam for horticultural therapists.
