WEATHER FORECASTING AT METEO CONSULT FOR THE CULTIVATION OF POTATOES.
It is a commercial meteorological office, and it serves different customers with weather information of all kinds.
The team consists at this moment of 8 persons, 7 of which have a university degree.
This establishment is necessary to understand and solve the meteorological problems of the clients.
Activities vary from making a weatherforecast for a newspaper to supporting extensive experiments which are extremely dependent of the weather conditions, and from selecting climatological data to developing computer software for a real time meteorological information system for use in an operational weather service.
An important branch for Meteo Consult is agriculture.
Much more can be done in agricultural meteorology than has happened so far, especially with respect to operational capability.
This is one of the reasons joint work is done together with the Department of Physics and Meteorology of the Agricultural University at Wageningen.
Part of the meteorological education of the students is carried out jointly with Meteo Consult.
