AN INTRODUCTION TO MACHINERY FOR DENSELY PLANTED FRUIT TREES

Abstract
In an orchard with densely planted trees, the space to drive tractors and tractor-operated equipment is limited.
The distance between the tree canopies often measures less than 1.35 metres and sometimes only 1.25 metres.
Therefore, tractors and implements for high density plantings are compact and have an extremely narrow wheel-track width.
In general, specialized vineyard tractors are used.
The characteristics of such tractors with matching machinery is discussed as well as some machinery for multi-row systems.
