Abstract
In vegetable factory and greenhouse, it becomes necessary that artificial light should be examined not only from high production of crops, but also from the energy saving aspect.
In the previous paper at PISA (Hashimoto et al. 1987), we presented some optimal conditions of the growth of lettuce as affected by the pulsed light illumination specially devised and developed by Mitsubishi Electric Co.
Ltd. for reducing electric power.

In this paper, control model of photosynthesis of lettuce under the illumination of the pulsed light is discussed based on system identification.
Pulse transfer function was estimated, with which, a control simulation was carried out with an optimal control algorithm.
