Abstract
The results of experiments on the main factors which can influence timing and quality of snapdragon production in cold greenhouse conditions are presented.
These factors were: sowing period, variety, pinching.
In relation to the sowing dates – from November to April – the time required to reach harvesting decreased from 160 to 90 days; the height of the stem also diminished considerably.
The varieties showed a different response to the conditions of late autumn sowing.
Pinching, studied in 6 varieties, determined an increase in production, a reduction in the stem length and in the number of flowers per spike, and delayed flowering by about 3 weeks.
