Abstract
A known MS modified medium has been shown to support the micropropagation of "Dwarf Cavendish", "Gerlick"’ "Grand Naine" and "Williams" banana cultivars.

Profileration rate was high and acceptable for commercial application.
Further investigations undergoing to evaluate field performance, genetic stability and phyto-sanitary status of the micropropagated plants, before released to the growers.

On the same medium 22 fig cultivars were in-vitro investigated as a first step towards the production of fig mosaic free propagation stocks.

The results are discussed in relation to the commercial micropropagation of banana cultivars and production of fig cultivars propagation stocks mosaic-free.
