Abstract
Studies indicated that oriental fruitfly, Bactrocera dorsalis damage was reduced to 4.6 by harvesting fruits at physiological maturity stage as compared to 10% in fully ripe dropped fruits of Dashehari on June 22 and 8% to 4% in Bombay Green.
Methyl eugenol (0.2%) baited 4 traps/acre run for 18 weeks (2nd April to 30th July) gave reduction of 71.11% in damages of physiologically mature fruits of Dashehari and 71.15% in damages of fully ripe dropped fruits.
Highest trap catch of 233 males/week was between 18 June and 25 June.
Adult emergence was zero when fully mature larvae were pupated at 30 cm soil depth followed by 20, 65, 45 and 30% at 20, 10, 5 and 0 cm depths respectively indicating suitability of 30 cm depths for buring the damaged fruits.
Mango juice (5%) was most effective poison bait in reducing the damages to fruits (36.6% in physiologically mature and 17% in dropped fruits). Deltamethrin 0.002% gave 83.3% reduction in the damage of physiologically) mature and 78.80% in dropped fruits.
This was at par with fenvalerate 0.015% Biosteres dacussii (Cameron) was found to be the most important parasitoid.
