Abstract
The variety ‘Besztercei’ which holds the first place in the Hungarian fruit culture, is very heterogenous.
Wide differences between individuals may be observed for the vegetative as well as for the reproductive characters.
Many of these characters were studied by the author: rates for blooming, fertility, fruit setting at harvest, yield, fruit quality, income, width of the crown.

Among a few clones, the data obtained confirmed the necessity and the importance of a clonal selection within the ‘Besztercei’ variety.
