Abstract
Muskmelon (Cucumis melo L. cv.
Earligold) were grown using a number of mulch, and mini-tunnel combinations over a period of three years.
Fruit were harvested and graded.
Yields were calculated on a one hectare basis.
Financial and energy analyses were carried out on the experimental results.
Gross income, gross margin, and net return were calculated.
The total energy requirements with and without labour were determined and used to calculate productivity.
The greatest energy input into the system was the shippijng cartons.
