Abstract
In vitro culture of stem explants containing a sleeping eye of Dracaena deremensis allowed to intensify considerably the propagation rate of this plant.
About 90% of the developing plants were of the parental type.
The remaining 10% had a modified chimeral leaf pattern.
The medium was not critical.

Some of the results can be interpretated by reference to fig. 1 : the production of mixed callus, the differentiation of two pure colour types of plants on a same ex-plant and the production of plants with a novel chimeral pattern are in our opinion related to the extension of the tissue without chloroplasts.
