Abstract
Entire six-years-old red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) plants cv.
Heritage were excavated from a commercial orchard in Angol, Chile (Southern hemisphere) during mid-winter.
Plants were divided into roots, crown, floricanes and buds.
Dry weight (DW), nitrogen concentration (Nc) and total nitrogen content (TNC) were measured on each sample.
Floricanes represented 35% of total plant DW and roots 30%. The highest Nc was detected in fine roots (2.2%) and buds (1.9%). Canes had 0.86 %Nc and crown only 0.62%. TNC was higher in roots than in canes, indicating that they are the main N reserve organs during winter.
