Abstract
The University of Hawaiis Leucospermum breeding program released 30 new hybrids to the Protea Growers Association of Hawaii in 2001. The hybrids were selected for attractive blossom colors and forms, desirable foliar characteristics, high yields, and extended blooming season.
Most of the selections display moderate to abundant blooms at least six months of the year, and several are in bloom for more than nine months a year.
These releases complement 11 hybrids released in 2000 and six released in 1999. Blossom color, seasonality, genome composition, and several physical characteristics of the new hybrids are presented.
