Abstract
Pingdingshan No. 4, a cross between 791 as the female plant and Hanzhong winter fragrant-flowered Chinese garlic as the male plant, is a new variety of fragrant-flowered garlic cultivated at our institute through sexual hybridization by way of continuous multi-generation directional selection and mixed pollination.
Comparison among various varieties, experiments in different regions and example cultivation prove that this new variety has many outstanding characteristics, such as: short dormant period, strong ability of low temperature resistance and disease resistance, fast and vigorous growth, high productivity, better appearance, better internal quality, high nutritive value, delicious taste, storage and transportation endurance and better economic interest. Pingdingshan No. 4 is a excellent variety and fits for growing in open field or greenhouse in all parts of the country.
