Abstract
Tomato breeding lines with favorable horticultural traits and high resistance to Tomato yellow leaf curl virus were developed by introgression of viral resistance genes from L. chilense. RFLP analysis with TG97 probe confirmed that four breeding lines, LD3, LD4, LD5, and LD6, had an introgression that corresponded to the Ty-1 gene.
The commercial hybrid, Fiona, also had this gene.
The resistant hybrid HA 3105 and breeding line 18-3-1 did not have the Ty-1-gene introgression.
These results showed that different genes for TYLCV resistance are present in the breeding lines, and these lines could be used to pyramid resistance genes.
