Abstract
Predominantly cut-flowers are a subject for ethical trading in international floribusiness commodity chains.
This involves social and environmental aspects and leads to the evolution of several recognizable eco-socially based certification systems.
In the end these appear in parallel at the consumers’ level.
This paper focuses on different certification systems, their presence and effects on the Austrian market as well as production sites and deals with the (as yet unresolved) question of several competing labels in the market in common.
Additionally it raises the question of cultural sustainability and challenges in the future for certification systems.
