Abstract
Chilling injury (CI) was recorded in cut flower shoots of Leucospermum Gold Dust, High Gold, Succession II, Tango and Vlam after 24 days storage at 1°C. Cultivars were pulsed with 2% w/v sugar solutions (5 ml/stem) of fructose, glucose, lactulose, mannose or sucrose prior to storage.
All sugars significantly reduced CI in Gold Dust and High Gold. Sugar pulsing solutions had no significant effect on reducing CI in either Succession II or Vlam shoots.
