CONCLUDING REMARKS

As chairman of the final session and also in my capacity as the chairman of the Working Group "Water supply and irrigation" of the ISHS, I would like to present some concluding remarks.

In this, the Second Symposium of our Working Group has been a great success.
More than 80 participants of 17 countries have enjoyed our meeting.
Nearly 30 papers have been presented.
I believe the level of the lectures was excellent, reaching from the results of more practical research to the theoretical investigations.
As far as I remarked, one of the main tasks of the Society and of the Working Group, namely to intensify contacts between scientists, has taken place.

On behalf of the Working Group I wish to thank Dr.
Schallinger.
He was the chairman of the Organizing Committee and did the main work before the symposium started, and was also in charge during the last 5 days.
He was a good guide, always smiling and patient.
I think, sometimes he had a very complicated task, and handled it very well.
We thank also his staff, the speakers, the chairmen of the sessions and all the other people who. helped us during the past week.

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, my thanks for the hospitality extended to us.

I wish all participants a good trip home and look forward to meeting each other again at the Third Symposium which I hope will be held in the Netherlands.
