Abstract
Rigorous research needed to gain respect as an evidence-based contributing part of healthcare science is lacking in horticultural therapy (HT). Building consensus on the definition of horticultural therapy is still needed along with theoretical models to clearly visualize interrelationships.
These can then be used as the basis for both research and practice. This paper uses a model for defining HT to identify research and program components that need to be documented to advance HT.
