THE NEW ARCHITECTURE IN THE VINEYARD SYSTEM MANAGEMENT FOR VARIABLE RATE TECHNOLOGIES AND TRACEABILITY

This paper summarizes technological progress in Precision Viticulture Mechanization and possible problems related to its effective diffusion.
Over the last decade precision farming and new achievements and developed tools have offered new possibilities to monitor, in detail, site-specific features such as soil, microclimate, and crop status throughout growing season or across different years.
Moreover, tools such as information communication technologies (ICT) have developed databases and models that allow to target better management choices.
Altogether, these technological possibilities have made crop management strategies feasible which are conducive to a sustainable process and have also led to an automatic system of traceability in terms of inputs and operations applied.
Some limitations have arisen such as a lack of standards for ICT and the WebGIS core system and in terms of data transmission protocols to control and communicate with equipment.
Thus, new perspectives are predictable for wineries as new service companies and new competencies become available for agronomists.
