Abstract
This paper summarizes ornamental grass trials across the world that have resulted in 72 award winning grasses.
The University of Minnesota ornamental grass collection has been used to trial ornamental grasses for cold hardiness, propagation and invasiveness.
The conclusion from a survey of nurserymen and landscapers shows that ornamental grasses are of interest to them but greater education for gardeners on their use is needed.
Awards given after trial can be used for educating gardeners but they need to be accompanied by appropriate information and marketing plans.
