Greenhouse and Indoor Production Horticulture
The ISHS Division Greenhouse and Indoor Production Horticulture (DGIP) connects a global network of researchers, practitioners, and innovators dedicated to advancing sustainable, high-quality production systems in controlled environments.
DGIP focuses on horticulture under protective structures – such as greenhouses, tunnels, and netting systems – as well as advanced controlled environments, including vertical farms and climate chambers. Its scope encompasses both soil-based and soilless culture, reflecting the integration of advanced root-zone environments and optimized microclimates in modern horticulture.
Our core objectives are to:
- foster interdisciplinary research on climate-resilient horticultural systems,
- promote digitalization and automation in protected cultivation,
- support the development of circular and resource-efficient production models,
- strengthen global collaboration through symposia, training, and joint projects,
- encourage young scientists and early-career professionals to engage in innovative research,
- accelerate the transfer of scientific knowledge into viable commercial practices.
The Division supports innovation, inclusivity, and scientific excellence across all areas of protected cultivation in horticulture. The Division welcomes new members and partners who share our vision for a resilient and sustainable future in controlled-environment horticulture.
