INFLUENCE OF GIBBERELLIC ACID AND N6-BENZYLADENINE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF SEED AND BERRY QUALITY IN ‘PERLETTE’ SEEDLESS GRAPE

Abstract
Gibberellins have been used to improve quality of grapes in several cases.
However, gibberellic acid (GA) alone is not enough to improve the quality in Perlette grape.
A field experiment was conducted on 7-year-old Perlette grape trained on T-trellis system, to investigate the effect of bunch dipping with GA3 and N6-benzyladenine (BA) on reducing the problem of formed seed and improving the productivity of grapevines.
Our observation proved that the stage of application of GA3 and BA is crucial to avoid seed formation in seedless cultivars for table grapes such as Perlette. The results showed that BA used at low concentration (10 µl L-1) at the fruit set stage, reduced seed development of Perlette grape.
Based on our study, we found that bunch dipping with 30 µl L-1 GA3 (at 50% of full bloom) and 10 µl L-1 BA (at pea size) significantly reduced the seed formation and improved the yield and quality in Perlette grape.
Additionally, GA3 and BA affected the shape of berries.
