Abstract
In Malawi, cultivated varieties of temperate zone fruit were imported to enhance the income among small-scale farmers.
However, the challenge has been the identification of these varieties.
There are currently limited horticulturists dealing with temperate fruits in the country.
The objective of this study is to understand the characteristics of the cultivated varieties found in farmers fields.
This will contribute to the improvement and further promotion of extension services for temperate fruit tree growing by researchers and extension staff from government and non-government organizations on temperate fruit trees growing in Malawi.
