Abstract
The effect of osmotic conditioning on the germination of Freesia hybrida ‘Super’ seeds was examined.
The percent of germination and number of days taken till germination of 25,50 and 75% seeds was considered.
Osmotic conditioning shortened the time between seeding and germination of seeds and did not affect the final percent germination.
The osmotic conditioning allows all seeds to germinate at 10°C temperature, which is too low for the germination of untreated seeds.
The gain of using osmotic conditioning partially disappeared when seeds were dried.
