Abstract
The colour of testa in green seeded wrinkled peas was examined in relation to seed vigour.
Four lines of peas (No. 21, 22, 23, 24) and one cultivar (No. 25) sown in 4 groups with green, light green, yellow-green and yellow colour of testa respectively, were tested 1976–1979. After harvest of mature plants in each group the colour of seeds within the pods was determined and the proportion of green, yellow-green and yellow seeds computed.
The variation in testa colour between years was highly significant.
Results of electrical conductivity test and measurements of primary root length in relation to vigour of green, yellow-green and yellow seeds were discussed.
