Abstract
This paper presents the results of the research carried out during the 1975–1979 period, using pre-harvest treatments with defoliants and inhibitors for controling storage sprouting and increasing the efficiency of the onion harvesting machines.

The experiments were carried out with the onion cultivar "Giant of Stuttgart" grown from sets.
